We saw them on the runways for S/S12 from Vivienne Tam to Prabal Gurung, but it wasn’t until I saw them in the flesh, walking proud around Lincoln Square, between shows at New York Fashion Week last week, that I fell for them. Patterned pants are walking the walk right now, and marching into Spring/Summer concrete catwalks.

Style icon Caroline Issa wore no less than 3 versions of printed pants at Fashion Week in New York last week.

While there are loads to choose from, the key to picking the right version for you and your closet is matching tastes. If you are a denim wearing girl, then do them in denim. If you are more of a cropped pant person, then stick to those parameters. If the height gods have blessed you with vertical beauty, then a loose fit pajama style might be your thing. Bolder larger prints are harder to wear and less forgiving than their tinier multi-print cousins. Pair with a solid top, understated accessories and a single sole (that is non-platform) high heel. Then strike a pose because your are certain to be snapped by a street-style blogger in your travels.
